Yellow Gold, 750 purity stamp (18K)- is on the bail where you see slight indentation. Bought in Italy. The horn and loop are one continuous loop and the bail is one solid piece- no openings to loosen. The Italian horn, also known as cornetto, or corno, is a popular amulet in Italian folklore and tradition. Typically worn, and is believed to protect against the evil eye and bring good luck. You can tell a Casting (the lost-wax) method was used to make this piece because of the edging. Casting, is widely used for more intricate and detailed pieces. This involves creating a wax model, encasing it in a mold, melting out the wax, and then pouring molten gold into the cavity- you get molded edges. This is a very petite piece for a child.
