Up for sale is a 1948 1st Edition/1st Printing copy of "INDIANS ON HORSEBACK" by Alice Marriott.

Long ago, before there were books or even writing, before there were horses, the first Americans wandered into the Great Plains area in the heart of our country. They came in search of food and a way of life. When they saw what looked like a vast sea of tall grass that was populated by the biggest animal they had ever beheld-the buffalo-they decided to stay. Alice Marriot tells more than the marvelous history of these first Americans. She describes just how the Indians made things: moccasins and cradles, thread and arrows and teepees. She includes a Plains Indian cookbook for such dishes as pemmican and stone-boiled buffalo. Because Miss Marriott is one of the finest ethnologists in this field, she makes the Plains Indians and their way of life into a vivid story of true once-upon-a-time.
