This is a really nice programmable transmitter and receiver combo ready to go. The right thumb stick centers from all directions and the left thumb stick centers from left and right. Its set up to stay in either forward or reverse positions. If I remember correctly that can be changed by adding springs but I've never done that. This unit requires 8 AA batteries and the receiver needs a power source as well. I use to use the Spektrum 1500mAh 4.8V NiMH receiver pack and it worked great. Its a tight fit for the 8 AA batteries. I've found that by installing them in at a pyramid shape they seat a lot easier into position.
