The Banco Central de Reserva del Perú began issuing the 5,000 Peruvian soles banknotes in 1976 and withdrew them from circulation in 1985.

The 1985 Peru 5,000 soles banknote is part of the 1976-1985 Sol de Oro series. The banknote is brown, orange, and green in color, and measures 150 x 75 mm.
The obverse side features Peruvian military hero Francisco Bolognesi and a coat of arms. The reverse side features miners at work and a watermark of Francisco Bolognesi. The banknote was printed by Bundesdruckerei in Berlin
