A prominent and well-documented Doubled Die Obverse (DDO) error. The other notable feature is the small die break on the rim (a "cud").
1970-S DDO variety. The doubling is clearly visible on the obverse of the coin, especially in the letters of "LIBERTY" and "IN GOD WE TRUST."
The reverse shows signs of die deterioration doubling (DDD) on some letters like "MONTICELLO" and "FIVE CENTS," which is common for this die and does not diminish the value of the primary DDO error.
There is also a small die break on the rim.
The 1970-S Doubled Die Nickel is a key variety for the Jefferson Nickel.
