Two VIntage Carved Wooden African Figurines - a Man and a Woman
These figurines are expertly carved from a lovely tactile dark hardwood. One depicts a woman holding onto a basket balanced on her head and, on her back, is a baby secured in the back of her dress. The man has a beard and is holding onto a sash on his robe; his right hand is holding onto a walking stick.
I'm sure these are African but I'm unsure of the region they are from. Perhaps the man's beard shape could offer a clue.
