"Breath Savers mints were originally introduced by the Life Savers Company, which was part of E.R. Squibb. In 2000, the gum and breath mint business was sold to Hershey. The Life Savers Company was founded by Edward John Noble in 1913. The original Life Savers were called Crane's Peppermint Life Savers.
The Life Savers Company was acquired by Nabisco from E.R. Squibb in 1981.
Nabisco sold the gum and breath mint business to Hershey in 2000. Breath Savers were first introduced in 1973 in limited areas. They were originally sugared, but became sugar-free in 1978 when saccharin replaced sugar."
