This exquisite Japanese dinner plate from the 1800s is a terrific example of Victorian wares produced in Japan during the late 1800s. It is made of porcelain and is adorned with beautiful yellow and rose colored flowers and intricate gold detailing over a green glaze. The fluted, swirled rim slopes up to unbroken and unchipped edges, which is rare for a plate this old. I have not noticed any crazing or crackling in the glaze, but it is a very old piece, so crazing in the glaze would be considered normal.
I have searched for matches to this plate for several years and have found none, which is typical for these old, hand-decorated pieces.
