This is an Argus C3 camera, often nicknamed "The Brick" due to its distinctive shape, size, and weight. The Argus C3 was a mass-produced 35mm rangefinder camera made by Argus in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from 1939 to 1966. It was one of the most popular American cameras in history, selling over 2.2 million units. The C3 model introduced built-in flash synchronization via an accessory flash gun that is included with this camera. It has interchangeable lenses, and its design allows for easy access to the shutter blades and aperture for cleaning. The Argus C3 requires the shutter to be cocked manually before release. The Argus C3 gained further fame as the camera used by photographer Tony Vaccaro during World War II.
