Antique Picture Frame, appears to be made of cast iron or a similar metal, which was popular during the Victorian era (1880-1900). The beaded edge and the ornate floral and ribbon design at the top are characteristic of the period's love for elaborate embellishment. The textured fabric around the glass adorned with small floral motifs, is also typical of Victorian-era decor. Fabrics were frequently used in picture frames to add depth and visual interest.Oval glass in the frame was common for the time period.
I added a vintage book print of Rembrandt’s “Flora” portrait, which is rectangular, but ideally you would use an oval image the same size/shape as the glass as there are metal tabs that fold down to hold in the glass and the image (only a few are folded down and visible now, but with an oval image you could fold them all down). The metal back has a stand that functions. The back is held in place in a track / with a flathead screw. See photos for condition. Over 3.5 lbs.
