Up for sale is a Rare! A Pair of Old Chinese Copper Red Ox-blood Porcelain Jars Table Lamps. With matching shades and carved solid wooden base. Each measures 19.5" in total height. The porcelain part is approximately 9.5" tall and 8" wide at the belly.
Both are in perfect conditions with no chip/crack/damage.
Sang de boeuf glaze, or sang-de-boeuf, is a deep red colour of ceramic glaze, first appearing in Chinese porcelain at the start of the 18th century. The name is French, meaning "ox blood" (or cow blood), and the glaze and the colour sang de boeuf are also called ox-blood or oxblood in English, in this and other contexts.
Oxblood or sang-de-boeuf porcelain, particularly the copper-red glazes of Chinese origin, is expensive due to a combination of factors related to its history, the demanding production process, and its aesthetic appeal.
