Mythical male counterpart to mermaids. Legendary creature, human from waist up & fish-like from waist down. Triton is the Greek merman, associated with having a conch shell & using the shell as a trumpet. This merman holds conch shell. He also wears a crown. Nicely detailed hair, beard, face, conch shell, scales and etc.
I purchased this Merman in Scotland in 1995. Scottish folklore mermen are supernatural beings often depicted as dangerous, luring sailors to their death. Stories also present them as protectors of the sea being able to call up storms.
This Merman is in Like New Condition. He has a gold tone finish and a weathered appearance. There is a hook for hanging on back. Label on back identifies him as being hand-made at Gilt Trading.
Measures about: 6" long x 9 1/2" tall x 1" at widest points. Weighs about: 14 ounces
