This is a porcelain lace figurine group in Rococo / 18th-century style, showing a courting couple at tea.
Key Details:
1. Style & Era
Figures in powdered wigs, ruffled lace trim, pastel coats and dresses = Rococo revival style.
Very popular in the mid-20th century (1940s1960s) for export, especially from Germany and Japan.
2. Material & Decoration
Porcelain with Dresden-style lace: the lace” trim is real fabric dipped in porcelain slip and fired, leaving a delicate porcelain lace.
Iridescent glaze and gold highlights (notice the shiny coat and table accents).
3. Base & Underside
The unmarked bottom with two open kiln holes and molded grid pattern is typical of Japanese postwar porcelain factories (Occupied Japan, 1950s onward).
German Dresden and Volkstedt lace pieces usually have blue crossed-swords or crown marks, while this unmarked hollow base is much more consistent with Japanese decorative imports.
