Emmanuel Frémiet (6 December 1824 – 10 September 1910) was a French sculptor.
Nuanced medium-brown patina on sand-cast bronze | Signed in base "E. FREMIET" |
A very early lifetime casting it is silky and positively glows with a rich nuanced brown and caramel surface patina. The model captures the entirely relaxed spirit of the recumbent dog with its bushy tail bouncing and eyes alert while taking a rest on a naturalistic base. The base is signed with a raised signature captured directly from the mold with no evidence of cold-tooling "E. FREMIET". Cast circa 1860. See photos for condition. It weights 4 pounds, 9 inches long, 4.75 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall
