What Is Crazing In Ceramics?
Crazing in pottery is the formation of a network of fine cracks on the surface of the glaze, resembling a spiderweb. This occurs due to a mismatch in the thermal expansion rates of the clay body and the glaze during cooling, causing the glaze to contract more than the clay and leading to stress and cracking in the glaze only.
