Antique 1900 Monarch Stereoscope by Keystone View Company. A rare find in fair shape for it's 120+ year old age! Please see photos for condition.
Invented in 1838, the stereoscope was a form of parlor room entertainment in the Victorian age. Photo cards with slightly offset photo images (many still can be found for sale online) create a 3D effect when viewed through the device. Popular images at the time were of exotic locations that many would not have the opportunity to travel to in their lifetime.
