This model was manufactured in early 1954 and was during the period when Olds was transitioning from their Los Angeles facility to Fullerton, California.
The "Special" model was considered an intermediate-level instrument in the Olds lineup. It featured a balanced design with nickel-silver accents and was praised for its playability and tone quality, still regarded as a solid instrument for advancing players.
