Stowe was a Pulitzer winning journalist was one of the first to recognize the expansionist character of the German Nazi regime.
Book recounts some of his wartime experiences in Greece, including an interview with Metaxas shortly after the Italian invasion. Stowe was a Chicago Daily News war correspondent.
Mr. Stowe went to Europe in Sep 1939. Records his experiences in Britain through the early months of the Sitzkrieg, in Finland during the war with Russia, in Norway at the time of the Nazi invasion and conquest, in the Balkans during the "softening-up period," and in Greece and with the Greek Army in Albania during the Italian "invasion in reverse." In his concluding chapters he seeks to convince his fellow Americans that Nazism is as much a danger to them as it was to any of the other nations which Hitler has attacked.
