This is a handmade item. There will be inconsistencies in stitch sizes. You will find tiny knots where the color changes. This is a traditional continual "Granny Square" pattern. It is what is also called a yarn buster. The maker used yarn left over from various projects. When that color ran out, another color was selected, so sometimes color changes in the middle of the row. These are not considered imperfections or flaws. This is a very traditional way of using up leftover yarn that dates back hundreds of years and it part of the vintage charm of this pattern. The "granny square" pattern was often used for this purpose.
