And sometimes you just want to see kids warm and traditional, sporty and comfortable. This is the sweater for that. The simple texture stitch is four rounds, two of which are knitted; the cable is that splendid OXOX one that seems to mystically protect the young with your hugs and kisses (written out only, not charted). Worked in the round to the underarms with straight lines throughout, drop-shouldered, and with a big generous cozy square/shawl collar. Excellent tips are given for shaping it, and the pattern as a whole is very detailed and friendly. Sleeves are picked up and knitted down circularly from the shoulder. And since you've cast off the shoulders together, there's no sewing. Gauge given over body texture stitch.
