“La Dame aux Camélias is a French novel and play by Alexandre Dumas that explores themes of love, sacrifice and societal judgment. The story centers on Marguerite Gautier, a Parisian courtesan nicknamed "Camille" for her fondness of camellias, which she carried to signal her availability. She falls in love with Armand Duval, a young admirer, but their relationship is marked by impossible love.”
