This cup and saucer are hand-made in traditional ways using native clay soil for both the construction and the decoration. They originally came with a small pitcher that had fire clouds, indicating that these were fired using natural fuels and traditional methods. These were hand made by pinching or coiling the clay, then scraped smooth and burnished with a smooth stone, and finally painted by hand using different colors of local clay. There is no signature or maker's mark.

I am not sure of the origin; I have attributed it as Australian Aboriginal work as my best guess. Regardless, it's a neat set.
