This is a rather wild boar part of our collection of Alebrije carvings.
Alebrijes are hand-carved and painted wooden figures from the southern state of Oaxaca, Mexico. The figures are usually carved from the wood of the local cobalt tree and subtly decorated with acrylic paints. Often entire families work together to sculpt and paint figures, with each member contributing different skills.
