This antique book about ornithology and bird-watching combines bird lore, natural history, and scientific data of the early 20th century with stunning illustrations of various birds, some in full-color and some black and white. This is an Ex-Library copy from a rural Nebraska collection, and despite its age and wear on the cover and boards, it remains a valuable resource with tight binding and mostly clean unmarked pages. A few pages have very light pencil underlining. The gorgeous artwork was produced by the world-renowned nature artists R. Bruce Horsfall (1869-1948) and Louis Fuertes (1879-1927). Horsefall was among the most famous nature artists of the early 20th century, while Fuertes was an eminent ornithologist who set the standard for the proper positioning of birds in art and museum displays. This book is a rare title and highly collectible! Smoke-free home. See all photos carefully to judge the condition.
