This is a beautiful set of four antique butter/dessert knives by Edward Owen & Co. of Sheffield, England, dating from the late Victorian to Edwardian period.
• Handles: Genuine mother-of-pearl with a rich natural iridescence, all intact with no cracks or chips
• Collars: Ornate sterling silver, hallmarked and securely fitted
• Blades: Original steel, stamped with the maker’s mark; age-appropriate patina throughout
Condition:
The knives are structurally sound. Blades show surface wear and tarnish consistent with age, including one with a slight bend near the base (see photos). Handles remain bright and smooth, collars retain crisp detail.
