Set of 4 vintage Toby plates. Handpainted designs of a colonial-style man. in the style of a toby mug. Each plate is about 6 1/2 inches across. Marked Genuine Staffordshire Hand Painted Shorter & Son Ltd. England.
They show overall wear consistent with their age. There is crazing apparent, primarily in the lighter-colored areas. A couple of glaze skips and small edge chips (the largest is approximately 1/4 inch). One has an area of what seems to be candle wax residue on the back. This set still displays well!
