This wonderful hand-colored copper engraving comes from "The Memoirs of Count Carlo Gozzi" published by John C. Nimmo in 1890. The work is by Maurice Sand, engraved by A. Manceau, and was created to illustrate Italian comedy. Gozzi was a noted Venetian playwright and champion of commedia dell'arte. This print measures 6.5 x 9 inches and is in good clean condition; some minor browning to paper, a bit of a rough edge where it was bound into the book. Includes titled tissue paper to protect the print. Title page and list of illustrations from the original book shown for informational purposes and is not included with the sale.
