HTF piece of antique Carlton Ware (trademarked name of line of pottery by Wlltshaw & Robinson of Stoke-on-Trent, UK) in form of tree trunk:
- Represented by antique shop from which I bought as bud vase or flower frog ca. 1870-1880; though could certainly be used as either, my research suggests was created ca. 1894-1910 as Victorian hat pin holder/stand
- Matte black finish achieved by dipping form into black clay slip
- Larger center hole/“trunk” holder surrounded by 6 smaller holes/holders
- Approx. 3.75” tall x 4” at widest
- W & R early Carlton Ware Crown mark (c1894-1926) on bottom; also description on paper attached to base (present when purchased)
- Excellent antique, used shape w/ no cracks, chips, repairs or other damage; only some greying to the bottom from shelf wear, as shown
