ANTIQUE 1860 Needlework CROSS STITCH SAMPLER Colorful & RARE in Mahogany Frame

This colorful 19th century sampler was started by "Ethel" in 1860 and finished in 1911, meaning she worked on it over the course of 51 years. The country origin of this piece is unknown to me, it was purchased in North Carolina, USA and my best guess is it originated in the USA. It features an eclectic array of cross stitch samples & practice stitches, such as:

Flowers, clovers, Dutch patterns, letters / the alphabet, scrolls, hearts, fruit, leaves, border practice, butterflies, and an array of animals, including a horse, a heron bird, a cat, and two rats or mice. Such a fun and colorful piece which really shows the personality of the creator.

The outside of the frame measures 17 and 3/16" x 28.25", while the sampler itself measures 24.5" x 13".
