This early 1900’s extra large split oak wood gathering basket is an amazing primitive piece. This large basket with dual wood handles is 27” long x 17” wide and 11” high including the handles. Overall this old basket is in nice antique condition, but does show a few areas with minor splintering from being loved and enjoyed over decades. The basket itself is very sturdy with a tight woven oak slat weave and 2 wood runners on the bottom, original nails and hardware in tact, and handles strong and secure. This unusually large, beautiful old gathering basket with rich patina is the perfect piece for someone who collects rustic Americana pieces. Its’ size certainly does make it a statement piece. Would be perfect for throw blanket/pillow storage, would look amazing on top of hearth or counter. Endless decorating possibilities for this charming, Primitive piece!
