This lamp is noted to have a large chip on the threaded area of the base though it is covered by the metal burner when screwed on. It feels as if it screws on securely, but I'm unsure if it would leak, so for this reason it is for decorative purposes only. Otherwise, no flaws are noted and it appears it would work as intended. There is light tarnish to the metal portion
