Vintage pair of Hemingray aqua colored insulators. The larger one is stamped “Hemingray-42” and “Made in U.S.A.” The smaller one is stamped “Hemingray” and “Patented May 2, 1893.” Hemingray was the world's largest manufacturer of glass insulators, producing billions over more than a century, from the late 1850s to 1967. These insulators were designed to prevent electric current loss along telegraph and telephone lines by insulating the wires from the poles, particularly against rain and wet wood. Fun vintage decorative items. They measure approximately 4” x 3.5” and 4” x 2.5”.
