Art Deco Period Late 30s- early 1940s.
2 Piece German Silhouette Cameo Belt Buckle with Victorian Revival Influence.
Scarce & Hard to Find Buckle from Germany is Stamped Ges Gesch on both Cameos.
Belt Buckle has Riveted Construction and is in Good Condition w/ some normal age-related wear.
There is some minor wear to the black areas and a small chip where the rivet meets one of the white cameos.
The Cameo has been repaired & stabilized w /glue at some point.
Does not detract or affect the functionality of the buckle.
Measures 2.25" x 4.50" attached together. Separately 2.25" Diameter.
Made from Early Thermoplastic.
Germany was the forerunner in using Acrylic Resin in the late 1930s in Jewelry production.
This Buckle is an accurate example of the Late 1930s Aesthetic & Era.
Ladies were still Sewing the Buckles right onto their Garments, and the 1940s wartime restriction of 2 inches in width for a buckle had yet to occur.
