Career Highlights: Moran started as a dancer at the Paris Opera in France before moving to film, debuting in a French silent film. She is best known for her role as Laurel Dallas in the 1925 film Stella Dallas. She also appeared in early sound films like Words and Music and Mammy, and starred in Broadway musicals like Of Thee I Sing.
Literary Connection: She is cited as the inspiration for the character Rosemary Hoyt in F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel Tender Is the Night.
Retirement and Later Life: Moran married Clarence M. Young, the Assistant Secretary of Commerce, in 1935 and retired from acting. She made a brief comeback in the 1950s TV series Waterfront.
Death: She died in 1990 at age 81 in Sedona, Arizona.
