This exceptional framed pair of original works by celebrated Baltimore artist Joseph Sheppard beautifully captures moments from Maryland’s cultural past. Sheppard, known for his mastery of realism and historical scenes, has works in major collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

The upper image, Ellicott City Open Air Street Car, July, portrays a charming streetcar in motion, passengers enjoying the open air while a lone cyclist rides alongside. Below, June Concert in Druid Hill Park, 1920, depicts a lively summer crowd gathered near an ornate bandstand, complete with musicians and detailed period clothing. Both scenes are rendered in expressive pen & ink, warm watercolor washes, and highlighted with delicate brushstrokes of white paint.

Condition: The artwork is in excellent condition with vivid color and crisp lines. Frame shows light wear and minor scuffs. Original titles and artist’s signature appear in the lower margins of each work.
