This lovely vintage skirt features a green, navy, red, and white plaid print, midi pencil cut, and side zipper + button closure.
The ILGWU (International Ladies Garment Workers Union) tag, though very faded, dates the skirt to late ‘50s - early ‘60s. ILGWU, founded in 1900, was a major labor union representing women in the garment industry in the U.S. and Canada, and played a significant role in the labor movement. It was also one of the first U.S. unions with a predominantly female membership :)
Waist measures 13 1/4 inches across, length is 26 inches from center of waistband to bottom hem. There isn’t a size tag, but it fits like a modern U.S. Women’s XXS.
A few condition notes (last two photos):
- there are a few tiny faint marks near the bottom hem
- there are a few loose threads on the inside of the skirt - they aren’t visible when worn, but I wanted to mention it!
Otherwise, the skirt is in excellent pre-owned condition.
