This is a beautiful hand, painted Nippon covered sugar bowl. Acquired at an estate sale, it has some signs of where but largely retains brightness in the glaze, and in the stunning hand painted florals, which appeared to be possibly dogwood.

“Nippon" refers to porcelain manufactured in Japan during a specific period, primarily between 1891 and 1921. Nippon porcelain was known for its high-quality painting, gilding, and vibrant colors. Nippon pieces are often characterized by their hand-painted details, gold accents, and sometimes raised "moriage" decoration. The sugar bowl exhibits these typical features, including the gold trim and the style of the floral painting. Please see photos for condition concerns, I do not see any chips or flea bites to the bowl or the lid. There is some wear to the gold glaze on the handle peak. A statement piece for your kitchen. Or serviceware. Could also be used as a beautiful container to hold jewelry or other precious items.
