This listing is for an antique L.E. Smith black amethyst glass a unique coal bucket ashtray with a metal handle. Made in the USA this ashtray is a rare collectible, it would be a great addition to any collection.
Made of high quality pressed glass in a rich black amethyst appears as solid black until held to the light, (please see picture) it reveals a deep purple color, no noticeable chips or cracks
Approx. measuring: 4” tall w/ handle, 2 3/4 wo/handle, 4” at widest point from spout to spout , 2 1/2” at the rounded part see pictures
History: LE Smith located in the city of Mt. Pleasant,PA business from 1907- 2010 these pieces were hand made, pouring into molds where they were pressed into beautiful glass pieces. L E. Smith Co. produced about 95% of ALL black and ebony opaque glass in the
1915-30 era; originally limited to 2500 pcs.
