Vintage from the 1970s
A beautiful 6 1/2 red studio pottery stoneware weedpot vase by Franz Kriwanek. Originally from Czechoslovakia, Kriwanek studied and exhibited in Europe before later coming to the U.S. first in Texas and then Colorado where he founded a pottery in Silverton. This bulbous vase has a heavy maroon red glaze, mottled with occasional black in the glaze, and unglazed foot/bottom. Signed and stamped on bottom with Kriwanek marks.
In good vintage condition, with no cracks or chips. Some manufacturing pops to the glaze.
