Vintage Kalaga Embroidered Elephant Art Indian Padded Tapestry Boho Wall Art
Stunning piece of fiber art in a rich dark wood frame. Two happy elephants are intricately embroidered with thread, sequins and beads. Shades of silver, gold and pink pop against the velvety black fabric. I'm unsure of the origin, but I think it is likely Burmese. The Burmese artform of "kalaga" is defined as heavily embroidered appliqué tapestry made of silk, flannel, felt, wool and lace against a background made of cotton or velvet indigenous to Burma (Myanmar). Has two metal hooks on the back for hanging on the wall. Great vintage condition with light signs of wear from age. Measures: 22.25" length x 14" width x .0.9" depth.
