This beautifully hand-carved shell cameo brooch/pendant features an elegant profile of a woman facing left. Her flowing curls are adorned with delicate floral details, and she wears a classical-style garment. The piece can be worn as a brooch with a pin clasp or as a pendant with a bail for a chain. The cameo is set in a filigree octagon frame, finely marked 14K on the clasp and acid-tested. The use of 14K white gold, particularly in a delicate filigree setting, suggests the Edwardian era (1901-1910) or the Art Deco period (1920s-1930s). Considering the safety clasp and the 14K marking, I believe it’s from the early 1930s.
The brooch measures 2” L by 1 3/4 W and will be presented in a gift box.
